Chapter 01
The Alaska door: built for the impact, not just the opening
The Alaska Polycarbonate Overhead Door isn't built like a typical overhead door. It's constructed of light aluminum and polycarbonate rather than glass and steel, and Airlift rates it to withstand 200 times the impact of a glass door while carrying only about an eighth of the weight. In a wash bay, that combination matters twice over: a lighter door puts less strain on the opener and track, and a tougher panel shrugs off the wand, the mirror, the mistake that would crack glass.
Airlift builds the Alaska door around a set of options an operator can mix to fit the bay: nickel boron plating, standard and highlift cable drums, strap-eze winding hubs and shaft couplers, stainless steel hinges and brackets, standard and highlift track, a one-inch solid stainless steel shaft, and the plastic-components line: Durahinge plastic hinges and Airlift's own plastic track, including a low-clearance version for tighter headroom.

The XRS roll-up: high speed, all weather
The XRS Series is Airlift's newest line of roll-up doors, and it's built for low maintenance in a corrosive, wet environment. It's a breakaway design with automatic reset, so a bump doesn't take the door out of service. The weather seal is complete: a heavy duty top rubber seal plus dual side brush seals keep wind and spray out of the bay in a Fargo winter.
Speed is where the XRS earns its name. It's adjustable up to 34 inches per second, which keeps a self-serve or automatic bay cycling without a customer waiting on the door. Every component is corrosion resistant and individually replaceable, so a worn part gets swapped rather than the whole door.

Hardware and cleaners that beat a North Dakota winter
Airlift's hardware line solves the problems specific to a wet, cold bay. The Waterguard threshold prevents the door from freezing to the ground and cuts down on water dripping problems, fitting any opening. Durahinge universal plastic hinges are corrosion resistant and mean an operator doesn't have to stock numbered hinges or a hinge block. Nickel plated door drums resist chemical buildup and keep a clean appearance, and bearingless rollers with stainless steel stems need very little maintenance because there's no bearing to seize up.
Keeping the door itself clean is part of the system: Airlift's Aluminum Cleaner brightens service door frames, and the Polycarbonate and Vinyl Cleaner strips the mineral buildup a hard-water bay leaves on doors and walls. Both are easy to use and DMI stocks them alongside the doors and parts.
